St. Petersburg Fl.   – The v2.0 Exquisite Corpse Game is a spinoff of the antiquated surrealist Parlor Game by Andre Breton established circa 1925.

Painter Jose Rodeiro was hesitant at first to participate as most artists when invited.  As the gamekeeper refers to it “The participating artist must be on “the same frequency”.  To play this game you must be talented and devoted to the profession of the arts.

Dr. Rodeiro is an alumnus of Jesuit High School of Tampa.  He has lectured as a Visiting Professor, Department of Visual Poetics, UNESP (Sao Paulo University, Bauru), Brazil, and as a Visiting Professor, Art Department, UNESP (Sao Paulo University), Sao Paulo, Brazil.  He also worked in Barcelona, Spain, from 1985-1986, during his Visual Artist Fellowship in Painting from the National Endowment for the Arts, [(Washington, DC)]. He is a former-Professor of Studio Art and Art History at New Jersey City University (Jersey City, New Jersey); as well as within the University of Maryland System’s Frostburg campus, along with teaching art history within Pratt Institute’s Graduate Program, and color-theory courses for Professor Salvatore Tagliarino within the Design Department, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, NYC, NY.  He is as talented as he is educated. He is one of the very many talented artists which participated in the 2019 game. Addl. Info about this game and participants can be found on www.exquisitecorpsegames.com

As history shows, it has always been a challenge for many to choose the Arts as a profession.  It is a business and not all artists are as business minded as they are talented.  You must have passion and vision to be an artist.  An artist is not selling widgets.  They are manufacturers of “self-expression” and as all manufacturing the better the process the higher profitability.

Part of the purpose of this version of the Exquisite Corpse games is to allow artists (3 to each piece) to paint “Just for Fun” allowing creativity to flow naturally and without any other concern.  Once the Art work is completed it becomes part of a traveling exhibit intended for museums and high-end galleries.

This version of the game has been played for 3 consecutive years in Paintings, Sculptures, Photography, Poetry, Filming & Music.  The last game played was in 2019.  Due to all the health risks and concerns no games were played in 2020 & 2021.  Currently a new 2022 game is in the organizational stages.

This game is a unique experience “Where Arts & Science Meet”.
