Artists have traveled from various different countries & states to join some of the local artist to further enrich the city’s public outdoor gallery, adding new styles—from colorful geometric patterns to delicately-rendered realism—all expertly painted on large walls and even on street intersections.
The festival’s confirmed roster includes artists Pixel Pancho (Italy), Caratoes (Hong Kong), Cecilia Lueza (St. Petersburg, FL), Jade (Peru), Zulu Painter (St. Petersburg, FL), and various others. In addition, the St. Petersburg-based Ink Werks Crew was selected from more than 30 entries to create this year’s SHINE Open Call Wall.

Today I had the opportunity to ride my bicycle around town and chat with some of the artist. Caratoes traveled from Hong Kong , to join 15 other incredibly talented artist. Even though it was quite hot out, she said she was enjoying every second. She instantly fell in love with the city and the sense of community. It was so nice to see people like Stacia Schrader, Manager of the Regions Bank on central ave, driving around and bringing water to all the artists. In addition to artists, there were people walking around with the shine 2016 festival guide, looking for the murals & writing on the “Before I Die” wall.
Shine Mural festival is off to a great start. There is a lot going on as part of the festival . This festival does shine a light on St. Petersburg , and confirms what this city is made of!
